Weekend Project - Making Pan Mee

Last weekend, my housemate, Chiang made Pan Mee for lunch. It was simple, but super nice!! I am a big fan of pan mee, especially homemade one.

First, the main thing is - the noodle. You need to knead a dough from flour. Let the dough to sit for around half an hour.

The other ingredients: vegie, chili, garlic and little onions.

Not to forget to boil the ikan bilis (anchovy) soup first. And also fry the garlics and onions bits into golden colour. The bits are to be spreaded on the soup.

Tear the dough into pieces into the boling soup. There you have it , homemade Pan Mee. Yum!!

Review - Tzu Ji's Multi Grain Drink Mix

Bought this pack of Multi Grain Drink from Tzu Ji Penang. Tzu Ji (慈济) is a famous organization in Taiwan, they are like a charity group and very active in recycle activities. They have their own line of products, which are all vegetarian and healthy.

In chinese, the name of this drink is called 五谷粉(read - Wu Gu Fen), which means Five Grain Powder. This 550 grams of powder costs me RM24. At the packet, it says purely vegan, rich in dietary fiber and no chemicals, fillers, artificial flavors and preservatives.

To serve, add 180cc of water to 30g of powder and mix, or adjust the drink powder as desired. For additional flavor, substitute water with fruit juice, soya milk, etc.

Since it is high in fiber, it helps on my constipation. But, it is heaty though, need to drink lots of water after drinking it. And it is also very filling. It tastes awful since it doesnt have any synthetic sugar added, however, I can still tolerate it as it is a healthy and filling drink. I would buy this again if I do visit Tzu Ji in the future.

This is how the powder looks like.

Lots of healthy ingredients in the powder. =)

Cherry Tomatoes for Good Skin

I have just recently found out that eating cherry tomatoes can help to cure acne. Cherry tomatoes are rich in Vitamin A & C. My ex-colleague told me about this. I noticed that his acne has reduced a lot and left mainly scars. I have tried eating these tomatoes for 3 days. It helped on my costipation. So, those who are suffering from acne, maybe can give this a try.

Taiwanese Beauty TV Shows

I'm back! Been busy looking for jobs =). At the mean time, I have not been unpacking my stuffs into my new room, I just put the boxes aside. Been watching quite a lot of TVB dramas though. Beauty activity wise, I have not been doing any. Except for watching some Taiwanese Beauty Shows. These are the shows that I have been watching.

1. Queens (女人我最大)
I think this show is probably the pioneer of the Taiwan beauty tv show. The host is Pauline Lan ( 蓝心湄), which was initially a singer, then turned into a TV host. This show is very informative. Together with Lan, there are other experts that always appear in the show. Including master Kevin (make up), Mario (the fashion guru), Judy lin ( Hair Style guru) and also Niu Er (DIY beauty guru). However, I start to find this show kind of boring. Because the host and guests are always the same.

2. 流行in HOUSE ( read: liu xing in house)
This is a show from Channel[V], so the target viewer is more to younger generation if compared with Queens. The host is Miranda Lu (路嘉怡), who is sister to Taiwanese singer, 路嘉欣. Overall, I find this tv show quite fresh and interesting, or maybe it is because I am bored watching Queens.

3. Butterfly (蝴蝶蝴蝶生ㄉ真美丽)
This is a crappy beauty show. Basically, a re-use of information from Queens and then re-package it. The host is called 蝴蝶姐姐, means Butterfly Sister (what the heck?), I dont know what her real name is. Butterfly Sister has a weird voice, like a doll voice. And there is a really silly thing that the guests do in the show, they have to be on exercise machines when answering questions from the host. Not really that kind of beauty show that I like.

Quickie: I am busy moving house

I have been busy moving house, I will move to Relau from my current house, Tmn Jubilee in Penang. It is such a bad timing for moving place. Company's retrenchment and moving house at the same week!

I am moving the stuffs slowly to my new room. Gosh, I have so many junks! Lots of books and stationary and clothes that I have not been wearing. I might have a garage sale soon.

I am a very messy person. =)

Part of my mess.

At the mean time, I am selling my wardrobe for RM80 (bought at RM130), used for 1 year only. I will give away my blue 5-level plastic tiers as well for FREE. Anyone interested ?? *blink* *wink*

DIY Hair Rebonding

My sister and me share the same problem - Curly fringe.

Even though rebonding treatment has gone quite cheap nowadays, but you still need a hundred to get it done. So, this time we DIY.

I have my model - Jessie, my sister. with curly hair.

The tools:
1. Straightening Flat Iron (picture is stolen from here.)

Note: The straightening iron should have an adjustable temperature control, make sure it can go up to at least 180 degree Celsius.

2. Hair Clips (picture is stolen from here.)

3. The thing that does the magic -Straightening Creams
The straightening creams that I bought from a local hair store. RM20 for cream 1 and cream 2. Damn cheap.

This is cream 1 - Strong Straightening Cream

Instruction for cream 1:

Texture of Cream 1.

This is cream 2 - Neutralizing Cream

Instruction for cream 2

Texture of cream 2.

The Steps:

The steps are actually shown at back of the creams. But here I will elaborate more.

1. On dry hair, apply cream 1 all over the hair. Cream 1 is for breaking the bond of the hair. After the bond of the hair is broken, then we can sculpt the hair to what we want it to be. Cream 1 stinks. It would be good if you use a glove during application of Cream 1. But I didnt, daring eh?

2. After applying cream 1 we need to wait for the hair to "soften". It says wait for 30 minutes at the back of cream 1. There is a tip to check whether the hair has "soften" or not. It is to take a pinch of hair, then tie the pinch of hair into a knot. If the knot does not loosen, then it means the hair has "soften". This is because if the bonds are broken, then the hair will loose its elasticity.

After application of cream 1.

3. Rinse off cream 1 (if hair has soften) without using a shampoo. Then, apply cream 2. Cream 2 is a straigthening cream that will "mold" our hair straight. In another word, Cream 2 is a super strong glue to hold the bonds of the hair.

4. After 10 minutes. Rinse off cream 2, without shampooing again.

5. Blow dry hair, and then use a straightening iron to straighten the hair. The process of straightening will be a time consuming, cos we need to flat iron the hair bit by bit. I sprayed some water-based heat protector (MP Italy's, will be reviewed later) to protect the hair from extreme heat.

Voila. Done.

According to the salon, we should not wash our hair for 3 days after the rebonding.

The Result:
Sis's fringe is straight. But the hair behind is not that straight because we didnt wait long enough for the cream 1 to develop. However, this DIY rebonding session definitely tidy up sis's hair a bit. Not that fluffy and stuff.
